As you read this, you can see the finish line of 2015. You made it! We all deserve a break from the alarm clock, sports practices, lunch making and book learning. I hope you make the most of every day of your Christmas break and stay in your pajamas at least one full day- its very freeing!

The day after Christmas, my favorite thing to buy is a new planner for the next year. The possibilities are endless in the blank pages of a new calendar. January 1 is a great “DO OVER”. We love a fresh start and a second chance, and I think God put this in our hearts.

Lamentations 3:22 says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning.”

God gives us another chance to be holy with every sunrise. So, in that same light, Lord allowing, when the dawn of January 1, 2016 comes, we have another opportunity from The Father. To do better. To be more holy and close to Him. To serve with gladness. To excel at life!

I think this calls for a Family Team Meeting!

Call your sweet family together for a pow wow. What can you do better in 2016? More respectful speaking? Less whining and complaining? Better eating? More family devotion time? More excellence in chores and school work? Less technology time?

Put it in writing to hold each other accountable. Put rewards and consequences in place to further the emphasis on these things. Pray about it together. Pray for resolve. Pray for patience. Pray for happy hearts and attitudes. And thank God for another year of chances to make Him proud and to be light and salt to this fallen world.
