HIGH SCHOOL COLLEGE ADVISOR

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  • 3-5 years of previous experience as college advisor, high school counselor or in a related field
  • Experience in an independent school setting is preferred.

This position is very part-time (approximately 5-10 hours per month), is salaried, and does not offer additional benefits.  Key functions of this position are:

  • Provide comprehensive educational, college, and financial aid planning for HOPE Academy students and their families
  • Provide individualized support to students in selecting schools and navigating the application process
  • Work with the Learning Support team to support students with disabilities in preparing for college admissions and transition Parent Education and Communication
  • Provide information sessions and support for families in understanding the college application process and financial aid
  • Support students and families in finding scholarships and college funding
  • Keep parents informed through regular communications that might include a newsletter, web portal and/or monthly mailing
  • Maintain and disseminate information about standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT
  • Coordinate, communicate or support test preparation activities including summer, after school, or weekend classes.
  • Help register students and administer AP and PSAT exams
  • Work with the Learning Support Team to arrange for extended time on tests for eligible students with disabilities
  • Arranging for college admissions representatives to visit our campus and facilitating meetings between college representatives and our students
  • Serving as liaison with college admissions offices and completing all School Report and mid-year report forms requested by colleges

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

Substitute teachers fill in for either a classroom teacher or an assistant in the event of an absence.  Our subs have a lot of flexibility, responding to both last-minute and planned absences.  Subs are paid at a rate of $90/day and $45/half day.  Requirements:

  2. Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  3. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  4. A desire to work with students in a patient and loving manner
  5. A joyful, flexible spirit
  6. Classroom experience is strongly preferred

ELEMENTARY TEACHERS

  • No current openings

Elementary students are at HOPE three days per week and additional assignments are carried out by parents on home days.  All Elementary positions are part-time (four days) and salaried, but do not include additional benefits.  Three days per week are spent in the classroom (Mon, Tues, Thurs) and Wednesdays are an at-home planning day for writing detailed weekly parent home assignment plans.  Teachers must also be accessible on Wednesdays and Fridays during the day to answer parent questions via e-mail.

Minimum qualifications:

  1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  3. A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Elementary Education or a related field.
  4. 3+ years of full-time elementary classroom teaching experience.
  5. Must be exceptionally organized and have strong attention to detail
  6. A North Carolina teaching license (current or expired) is preferred.

HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS

High School students are at HOPE 4 days per week and additional assignments are carried out at home on Fridays.  All Upper School teaching positions are two days (M/W or T/Th) per week unless noted and additional planning time outside of class is required.  These positions do not offer benefits.  Teachers must be accessible on Fridays for student questions via e-mail.  Available openings:

Minimum qualifications:

  1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  3. A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Education or the subject matter being taught.
  4. 3+ years of classroom teaching experience.
  5. Must be exceptionally organized and have strong attention to detail
  6. A North Carolina teaching license is preferred.  If expired, must be willing to pursue renewal within two years.
