HOPE is now accepting applications for the following 2018-19 school year openings:
  • 4th Grade Teacher
  • 5th Grade Teacher
  • Elementary Teacher’s Assistant
  • High School Government/ Economics Teacher (1 class, 2 mornings/week)

4th/5th GRADE TEACHERS

Elementary students are at HOPE three days per week and additional assignments are carried out by parents on home days.  All Elementary positions are part-time (four days) and salaried, but do not include additional benefits.  Three days per week are spent in the classroom (Mon, Tues, Thurs) and Wednesdays are an at-home planning day for writing detailed weekly parent home assignment plans.  Teachers must also be accessible on Wednesdays and Fridays during the day to answer parent questions via e-mail.

Minimum qualifications:

  1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  3. A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Elementary Education or a related field.
  4. 3+ years of full-time elementary classroom teaching experience.
  5. Must be exceptionally organized and have strong attention to detail
  6. A North Carolina teaching license (current or expired) is preferred.

ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM ASSISTANT

The Classroom Teaching Assistant supports the lead teacher in maintaining a well-managed and organized learning environment. Assistants provide support for teachers while they perform daily tasks in the classroom.  Duties include but are not limited to helping with small groups for instruction, assisting students in the classroom, and taking over the classroom if the primary teacher is out.  Assistants are in class Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm with additional hours/ days required prior to and after the regular school year.  

Minimum qualifications:

  1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  2. Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  3. Experience working directly with Elementary students
  4. Flexibility and a servant’s heart
  5. A joyful spirit and a high level of patience

Priority will be given to candidates who have experience working in an elementary education setting with academic small groups (math and reading) within the classroom.

HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS

High School students are at HOPE 4 days per week and additional assignments are carried out at home on Fridays.  All Upper School teaching positions are two days (M/W or T/Th) per week unless noted and additional planning time outside of class is required.  These positions do not offer benefits.  Teachers must be accessible on Fridays for student questions via e-mail.  Available openings:

  • Government/Economics, one class

Minimum qualifications:

  1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Agreement with the HOPE Academy Statement of Faith
  3. A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Education or the subject matter being taught.
  4. 3+ years of classroom teaching experience.
  5. Must be exceptionally organized and have strong attention to detail
  6. A North Carolina teaching license is preferred.  If expired, must be willing to pursue renewal within two years.
